// CB + Work & Livelihood Talks
Recently I spoke with Inverse as part of their Job Hacks series, and yesterday I spoke on mindfulness as part of the SheKnowsNow Summit, where topics of work and livelihood came up. I also get asked often about working for yourself, any tips for up and coming creatives and fitness individuals, and just work related questions in general.
Considering I had no role model for this “position,” I’ve had to navigate the waters the best I could, collecting knowledge and insight along the way. I’ve come to learn that many do not speak of the actual struggles that exist and some how sell of us on this idea that “all you need is a passion” and other myths that are not relevant considering the strange economic and social times we are living in. Yes, it has given up much more freedom and creativity in what we can do, but it’s also cloaked in mystery how some manage to live the lives they live.
I was once told, “you don’t take advice from people who got it right the first time.” As someone who’s done it wrong just as much as I have right, I’ve decided to start writing more about work and job experience as a way to answer many of your questions and share, with more transparency, the ends and outs of this elusive success we all seek, the realities we have to face, and how making a living is different than making a life.
